Here in this video, Kirsten John Foy, a top legislative aide to Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, is seen being tripped to the ground and later being led away in handcuffs, after he and Councilman Jumaane Williams were stopped by police officers at the end of the West Indian American Labor Day Parade in Brooklyn.
Williams, who is not seen in the video, and Foy were ultimately let go and not charged with any wrongdoing. An NYPD spokesman, Paul Browne, said the altercation between Williams and Foy turned violent after an NYPD captain was punched in the face, without specifying who did the punching.
Williams, today, said that was a "bald-faced lie" and challenged the NYPD to provide "one shred of evidence" to back up their claim.
The video was provided by the public advocate's office, which also submitted it to the N.Y.P.D.
