In Southold, on the North Fork of Long Island this weekend, I came across these signs on a quiet side street where the houses weren't particularly fancy nor particularly un-fancy. Tim Bishop is the congressman that represents the town; he was elected in 2002, and until now, hasn't had much of a problem getting re-elected

Most of the excitement in the race so far has been in the Republican primary, with Chris Cox, son of state party chair Ed Cox, running against Randy Altschuler, who is backed by the chair of the Conservative Party, Mike Long. It's not clear which one of them will win.

The D.N.C. is obviously concerned about this seat, or at least aware of it, considering Bishop was the only congressman in the state thanked in ad from the national party for his vote on health care.

Bishop raised $398,499.57 in the last campaign filing period, and has $1,467,073.25 cash on-hand.

The Cook Political Report currently rates the race as "Leans Dem."
