Fordham faculty recommends Teachout for tenure

The faculty of Fordham University's law school has recommended Zephyr Teachout for tenure.
"Needless to say I'm thrilled," Teachout told Capital in an email. "Fordham has been great, a big city school with a huge eclectic range of professors, and they have been absolutely supportive of my political work. The book, of course, is more important than anything for this, though."
Teachout, who is currently an associate professor of law at Fordham, challenged Governor Andrew Cuomo (a Fordham graduate) in last year's Democratic primary. She won 34 percent of the vote against the incumbent governor in what was considered a surprisingly strong showing for a relatively unknown challenger. She also published a book in the fall, on the history of corruption in American politics.
The university administration has the formal authority to grant tenure, and is expected to make it official in May or June.
As a full professor, Teachout will be able to take leave with guaranteed employment upon return. She has previously said she would like to run for public office again in the future.
