Gay Men’s Health Crisis selects new C.E.O.
ALBANY—Gay Mens’ Health Crisis, the long-running HIV/AIDS group, has hired Kelsey Louie as its new chief executive officer, the group announced Tuesday.
Louie will replace Janet Weinberg, who has been serving as the interim C.E.O. since last fall, when the previous C.E.O, Marjorie Hill, was forced out by the organization’s board of directors amid dissatisfaction with her leadership. The organization was facing some financial difficulties earlier this year, Crain’s reported.
Louie, formerly the C.O.O at Harlem United Community AIDS Center, is no stranger to GMHC, having previously served as coordinator of counseling & education in 2006.
The organizaiton's board of directors selected Louie following a national search, done in consultation with Sandler Search Associates.
GMHC will be featured in an HBO original film adaptation of The Normal Heart, which tells the story of the organization’s beginnings. The movie is set to premiere on May 25th.
