County election commissioners support single June primary
Commissioners from New York's county boards of elections support a single state and federal primary date in June, a leader of their association said today at an Assembly hearing on voter accessibility.
Members of the state board have also expressed support a single primary date, pointing to potential cost savings.
Some municipalities have objected because a combined June election could conflict with village elections. But Joseph Welch, Steuben County elections commissioner and chairman of the association's legislative committee, said, “The county boards will indeed adapt."
